ABSTRACT

Individual or community life is never separated from their respective cultural contexts. Culture is a way of life as well as a source of meaning in people’s lives.

The same thing also happened to the people in Ngada district who have a characteristic in the Reba ceremony. Reba becomes a grace, tradition, custom, and event.

Reba culture is a grace that has been given or seen from the past and is carried out until now. The Ngada people must maintain this culture and continue to pass it on and teach it to the next generation.

Therefore, culture is not a matter of whether or not it fits me, it’s not a matter of whether I like it or not, nor is it a matter of whether it fits or doesn’t suit me. Why? Because it is an experissive culture, it means that local people express themselves as people who still love their culture.

Being a young generation what must be maintained and studied because there is no other way but to learn.

Through Reba, humans are like ‘born again’. New in attitude, speech and deed. Because at Reba’s party, the new generation of children are always reminded of Pata Dela (Voice of the Ancestor). The voice of the ancestors became a force in this tradition.

ABSTRAK

Kehidupan individu atau masyarakat tidak pernah terlepas dari konteks budayanya masing-masing. Budaya menjadi pedoman hidup sekaligus sumber makna dalam kehidupan masyarakat.

Hal yang sama juga terjadi bagi masyarakat di kabupaten Ngada yang mempunyai ciri khas dalam upacara Reba.

Reba menjadi suatu Rahmat, tradisi, adat, dan perayaan. Budaya Reba merupakan Rahmat yang diberikan atau diwariskan sejak dahulu dan dijalankan hingga saat ini.
